An introduction to the
Montgomery Portfolio Service
Changes to our Service
This page is for clients who have received our letter dated 1st August 2025 entitled ‘Changes to our service’. The letter explains several changes to the way we manage your investment account and the ongoing services we provide.
It is important that you review the information that we hold on your behalf, so please spend a few minutes going through the steps below. Once your checklist is complete, we can reduce the annual management fees on your account.
It shouldn’t take longer than 10-15 minutes to bring your details up to date on the client portal. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
-
Step 1 - Client Portal Registration
Action: Click the Register button below, use the email address you use to correspond with us normally, answer the security questions and choose a password.
In the ‘Profile’ section you will find a schedule of your assets such as your house and investments as well as any liabilities like a mortgage. Please review the details we have pre-populated and update any changes.
-
Step 2 - Risk Profile
Action: Login to the Client Portal and complete a new Risk Questionnaire here:
Click: Profile > Your Finances > Risk Profile
When we invest on your behalf, it is important that your portfolio continues to reflect your attitude to risk. As part of our review process, we ask clients to update their risk questionnaire to help ensure their investments remain suitable.
-
Step 3 - Agreement
Action: Please sign our Discretionary Management Agreement on the client portal.
Click: Dashboard > Documents
Once we have reviewed your Risk Profile, we will share a new Agreement for you to sign in the client portal ‘Documents’ section. The lower fee will apply once we have received your signed agreement.
-
Step 4 - Appointment
Action: Click the Book Appointment button below to schedule your Financial Review Meeting.
Once you have completed the Steps 1 – 3, you are welcome to book a review meeting to discuss your wider financial planning needs or ask any questions you may have.
The meeting will be with Seb Johnston-Brown, our Wealth Management Associate.

Your account will be moving to our Montgomery Portfolio Service (MPS). This is a new investment-only service we have designed for clients and their family members. The MPS is managed on a discretionary basis, meaning our Investment Committee make buy and sell decisions on your behalf. There are three portfolios – Cautious, Balanced and Growth. We will assign you to the most appropriate portfolio based on the information we already hold and the results of your new Risk Questionnaire.
The MPS charges are lower than your current service so your Annual Management Charge will reduce from 1% to 0.75%. There is no cost to you for moving to the MPS. You will receive quarterly MPS Factsheets and a monthly newsletter covering market updates. Portfolio valuations and statements will be sent to you by Transact. You can also log in to our Personal Finance Portal via our website, where you will find further details about your wider finances.
Your current service: Bespoke Service - 1% p.a. Annual Management Charge.
Your new service: Montgomery Portfolio Service - 0.75% p.a. Annual Management Charge.
Effective date: three months from the date of our letter.

You are on our MPS web page www.montgomeryassociates.co.uk/mps which guides you through four steps to register for our client portal where you can check your details are up to date and complete a new Risk Questionnaire. Once these steps are complete we will review your changes and send you our latest Discretionary Management Agreement, then you can book a Financial Review Meeting with one of our Advisers using the online booking system shown in Step 4 above.

As our business has grown over the last 50 years, so too have the needs of our clients. We have found that clients with less complex financial arrangements still require a diversified global investment portfolio but may not need or want extensive financial planning and advice.
We continue to offer financial advice to our MPS clients; however, this is now available as a separate service, charged at an hourly rate or for a fixed fee, agreed with you in advance based on the scope of the work.
-
We will automatically align your portfolio to the most appropriate MPS risk profile and reduce your Annual Management Charge after three months. Although not mandatory, we would strongly encourage you to complete Steps 1 – 4 above. Over the years your circumstances may have changed and your attitude to risk may have increased or decreased. If you choose not to review the information we hold about you, your investment portfolio may fall out of line with your objectives, and you could inadvertently be taking a greater or lower risk than you are comfortable with. We are inviting you for a financial review meeting; however, we ask that you book an appointment within three months from the date of our letter, after which financial reviews, advice and planning meetings are chargeable.
-
Once you have checked your details, completed a new Risk Questionnaire and signed our Discretionary Management Agreement via the portal, we can proceed with your move to the MPS and reduce your Annual Management Charge accordingly.
-
A financial review meeting is available for three months from the date of our letter, then financial advice will be a separate chargeable service.
-
Financial advice is available on an hourly or fixed fee basis. Our charges are set out in our Terms of Business, which are available on the Clients page of our website. A copy was also sent to you with our letter. Clients are of course welcome to contact us with general financial queries, and we will endeavour to help as best we can.
